Many showed support for Nasty Women of Cheshire Rally sponsored by CDTC and CDWC

Local Cheshire Democratic women (and men) gathered in front of Cheshire Town Hall on Route 10 on Saturday to unite and show solidarity for Hillary Clinton and local Democrat candidates at the Nasty Women of Cheshire Rally.

The rally was sponsored by the Cheshire Democratic Town Committee and Cheshire Democratic Women’s Club. It was considered a huge success with dozens of supporters holding "Nasty" signs and waving to people in passing cars with many motorists tooting their horns in support.

One person on hand was CDTC chairman Ernie DiPietro.

"It was a great turnout and very uplifting to see all the support for our Democrat candidates," DiPietro said.

The event was one of several "Nasty" rallies held nationwide. They were the result of a statement that hit home hard with female Democrats when Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump called Hillary Clinton “such a nasty woman” in the third and last presidential debate.

The statement has become a rallying cry for Clinton female supporters nationwide.

One person impacted by the “nasty woman” statement is former Cheshire Town Councilor Diane Visconti who organized the rally with CDTC member Kathy Yacavone.

"This rally was organized and came about because it was absurd and bizarre for Donald Trump to call Hillary Clinton a nasty woman,” Visconti said. "It's great to see all the support for the rally."

Other notable politicians who were at the "Nasty" rally were state Representative candidate Pat Reynolds (90th District) and Cheshire Town Councilor Patti Flynn-Harris.
