CHESHIRE—Throughout the day on Saturday, many people enjoyed the crafts, exhibitions, entertainment and retail booths at the annual Cheshire Chamber of Commerce Fall Festival at Bartlam Park.
Among those enjoying the event’s activities were Democratic candidates on the Cheshire ballot on Nov. 6. “I love the Fall Festival because and it’s sense of community, giving people from Cheshire and area towns a chance to gather and enjoy so many activities,” said Anne Harigan, Democratic candidate for the 89th State District Representative. “As a candidate it gives you a chance to talk to people in your district. “When I get this job (elected), I’ll represent everyone and we’ll get things done. I love all these fall festivals that you see in so many towns.” Vickie Nardello, Democratic candidate for the 16th District State Senate, has always been impressed with the Fall Festival in Cheshire. “It’s all about the civic organizations in Cheshire and the opportunity to see all the great things they do for the community,” Nardello said. “The Fall Festival is a great way to interact with people in a relaxed environment.” Also, 13th District State Senate Democratic candidate Mary Abrams circled the date for the Fall Festival on her calendar before her campaign began. “It’s so exciting, a huge event,” Abrams said. “I love it because you see so many young families here. It has something for everyone. I think it’s great when you have festivals like this because it’s a great opportunity to come out and meet people.” Dan Fontaine, 90th District State Representative candidate, said he enjoys going to several festivals like the Cheshire Fall Festival. “The Cheshire Fall Festival is always a great festival,” Fontaine said. “It’s a lot similar to the Celebrate Wallingford festival that I’ll be going to on Oct. 6. As a candidate you couldn’t find a better opportunity to meet people from your district than at these town festivals.” Celebrate Wallingford is a two-day event on Oct. 6 and Oct. 7 at the Wallingford town center on North Main St. and South Main St. |
