The competition aims to encourage families to think about the importance of higher education for their children’s future, promote saving for college early, and inspire kids to think about how they can use their education to change the world.
“As the parent of three young children, I know that the idea of saving for college can be daunting,” Rep. Linehan said in a prepared statement. “This competition is a great way to inspire kids to think about their future and encourage parents to start saving for college. It’s never too early to start.”
The prizes include:
· 4 grand prizes of a $1,000 529 CHET college savings account contribution
· 44 prizes of a $500 529 CHET college savings account contribution
Entries fall into the following categories:
· Drawing: Grades K-3: An original drawing, illustrating, "What do I want to do after I go to college?"
· Essay: Grades 4-8: An original essay responding to the question, "How will I change the world after I go to college?"
