Editor, The Cheshire Herald,
My name is Christopher Affie and I am a candidate for the Cheshire Board of Education.
As a member of the BOE, I will continue the growth and progress that is happening on a daily basis such as excellent test scores and ensuring a safe learning environment for all students. I am the proud father of two boys, one currently enrolled in Cheshire Public schools.
My entire career has been spent as a public school math teacher in large and small districts, currently working in the Gilbert School. I have also worked as an evaluator, mentor to new teachers, union president and student advocate. Working as a team, with the Cheshire community, I have the following goals:
•Work cooperatively with the Town Council to develop and implement a cost-effective long-range action plan for upgrading our aging school facilities.
• Promote effective communication and collaboration between our school district and the community, including the areas of bullying and fulfilling the curriculum needs of all special education students.
•Lastly, I will be a fierce advocate for all students, parents, teachers, administrators and other community members as I am on a daily basis for my two sons.
I ask for your vote on November 5th so that I can be your advocate. I can be reached by phone 203-645-0931 in writing at email@example.com or Facebook page @AffieBOE.
