Chris Murphy  5th Dist. House of Representitives

Picture
Chris Murphy is a Democrat representing Connecticut’s 5th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. The 5th district stretches from just west of Hartford to the New York border, and includes the towns of Waterbury, Danbury, New Britain, and Meriden, as well as the vast majority of Litchfield County.

Chris was first elected to Congress in 2006 by defeating 24-year-incumbent Nancy Johnson. Chris earned 56% of the vote by running a positive, grassroots campaign that took him to each of the district’s 41 towns. Since his election to Congress, Chris has maintained a constant presence throughout the district when he’s not representing Connecticut in Washington. Chris’s earnest and heartfelt attentiveness to his constituents is renowned, and  an article in "The Roll Call" a Capitol Hill newspaper said that "Chris is considered ‘omnipresent’ back home.”

Richard Blumenthal US Senater

I am energized and excited to continue fighting for the people of the great state of Connecticut as I have done in my nearly four decades of public service. My focus has been, and will remain, working for middle class families and small businesses, as well as continuing to stand up against special interests. Although in a new role, I will continue listening to the people of Connecticut and will bring their thoughts and concerns to Washington.

Some of the most important issues I have worked on in my career have come from my constituents and I will continue this tradition as your Senator. I look forward to working with members of Congress, reaching across the aisle when needed, to address the critical issues facing the people of Connecticut and the nation as a whole. My family and I thank you for your continued support and look forward sharing this exciting new adventure with you!
