The three volunteers honored for their service to the Cheshire Democratic Party were Carol Dempsey, Theresa Grahame, and Agnes White. This year’s award was named the Ernest DiPietro Civic Pride Award in honor of the former Chairman of the Cheshire Democratic Town Committee, who passed away suddenly in April.
U.S. Representative Elizabeth Esty spoke about the impact that Carol, Terry and Agnes have had on the Democratic party in Cheshire and presented each with a citation from Congress. State Representative Liz Linehan, who was recently named as gubernatorial candidate Dan Drew's running mate, also spoke about how the three honorees have inspired her and presented each with a citation from the Connecticut General Assembly.
In honor of Ernie DiPietro, the Cheshire Democratic Women's Club also presented a donation to the Cheshire High School Young Democrats Club at the event. Ernie was an enthusiastic supporter of the club, whose members volunteer tirelessly on behalf of local candidates.
