The $181,000 STEAP grant is for the design and construction of roadway and parking improvements to the town’s Veterans’ Memorial Park. The project will reconfigure the roadway and create additional parking while improving vehicular and pedestrian safety. The project also includes related site work and landscaping.
“I am very pleased that Governor Malloy has announced the town of Wallingford will be receiving this $181,000 STEAP grant,” Rep. Fritz said. “ STEAP grants enable our small towns to pay for projects that otherwise local officials may not be able to undertake because of the cost. The improvements to the town’s Veteran’s Memorial Park represents an important investment in our community. Plus, my grandchildren enjoy playing in the park.”
State funded STEAP grants provide funds to eligible towns for economic development, community conservation and quality of life projects. To be eligible, a town must have a population of less than 30,000 residents, not be designated as a distressed municipality or a public investment community, and not have an urban center.
